Services to increase positive behavior and decrease or eliminate severe, challenging behavior. Positive Support Services can be provided in the person’s home or in the community. It includes the following service categories:
Development of a positive behavior support plan to teach an alternative, positive behavior that will result in an increase in the person’s quality of life and decrease of the challenging behavior
Implementation of the plan developed under this service, including ongoing training and supervision of paid staff, formal supports and informal supports
Periodic reassessment and modification of the plan
Use of person-centered approaches that incorporate a comprehensive, functional behavior assessment of both positive and challenging behavior
